The Best Restaurants in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for Upscale and Fine Dining
A special night out in Jackson Hole requires a special restaurant. Even fine-dining experiences in Jackson trend casual when it comes to attire, but these restaurants fit the bill for nights when only an elegant, memorable meal will do.
Tucked on a quiet corner not far away from Jackson’s main town square, upscale Coelette defines intimate, seasonal dining and is easily one of Jackson Hole’s best restaurants. You’ll want to reserve in advance for this best Jackson, Wyoming restaurant (ask for a fireplace table!), but the warm, wood-paneled barroom is also a fantastic bet for walk-ins.
You’ll notice no prices listed on the online menu for this sumptuous restaurant at the quiet, ultra-luxurious Amangani resort hotel. But if you have to ask…. Let’s just say it’s not cheap. But dining at this haute restaurant feels like an event. The steakhouse grill selections include elk, A5 Wagyu, and king salmon. The the rest of the often locally-sourced menu is just as special, and changes seasonally.
With a whopping 30 years of success, the Snake River Grill has earned a consistent place as one of the best steakhouse restaurants in Jackson, Wyoming. A change in chefs last year means an updated menu (au revoir, starters like green chili onion rings), but this Jackson Hole restaurant still features satisfying chops, steaks, and other dishes that satisfy. The cabin aesthetic feels timelessly cozy. Don’t skip dessert.
4. The Kitchen
Sleek, creative, and fresh, The Kitchen offers diners a frequently bright, modern menu that makes a great antidote to heavier Western fare. With a menu that draws from Asian and other international influences, there’s always something pretty and inventive for diners, but the restaurant also makes a mean burger and other hearty food.
The Best Jackson, WY spots for Après Ski Dining
Jackson Hole has lots going on besides skiing, but let’s face it: the epic skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a huge draw. And with skiing comes, of course, après ski. Here are the best places to grab the best post-slope drinks and food in Jackson, both at Teton Village and right in town.
If you don’t après ski at the Moose while in Jackson Hole, you’ve done it wrong. This is a necessary, perennial stop after the slopes. This Teton Village institution is the opposite of fancy. With a location right at the mountain base, daily live music, and no problem with guests walking in still in ski boots, this is the best place to chill over beers, signature margaritas, soft pretzels, and nachos.
Whether you want a family-friendly atmosphere or something a little more upscale, the Western-themed Handle Bar at the Four Seasons Resort makes a top stop for Jackson Hole après ski dining and has a perfect location right at the mountain base. The Handle Bar has a tasty après menu from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and is also open for lunch and dinner.
It’s always nice to find an outstanding wine and liquor shop when you’re on vacation. It’s even better to find one that has a killer wine bar with a full tapas menu in back. Bin22 is one of my favorite spots in Jackson. Pull up a stool, shake off the snow, and dig in to the Bin’s half-priced happy hour drinks (as of this writing, this included an excellent Châteauneuf-du-Pape) and creative small plates. Recommendations: huevos rotos, paella, and mozzarella cheese.
You cannot miss this famous (dare I say, iconic) bar-plus-food institution on the southern end of the town square. Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is touristy, sure, but in the most fun way possible. The bar features excellent live music, dancing, and an all-around good time. Grab a saddle bar stool and get yourself a bison burger, pulled pork, and a beer.
Top Italian Restaurants in Jackson Hole
After working up an appetite skiing, hiking, or shopping around town, nothing satisfies like a good bowl of pasta or fresh pizza hot from the oven. Here are the best restaurants in Jackson, Wyoming for Italian food.
Glorietta Trattoria has earned its place as one of Jackson Hole’s best restaurants for Italian fare. The dining room is also one of the town’s prettiest. The chefs know their way around some wood-fired meat, and also serve up excellent salads, generous pastas with a local and seasonal ingredients (see, e.g., elk bolognese), and more.
This Italian bistro makes a popular choice for casual Italian food that features lots of classic Italian-American favorites like spaghetti and meatballs, fried mozzarella, cacio e pepe, chicken parm, and the like.
11. Hand Fire Pizza
It’s hard to find anyone not a fan of the organic, wood-fired pizzas served at Hand Fire Pizza. Located in the historic former Teton Theater — the sign’s still up — this is a top place to go for a top pizza night in Jackson. They also serve good salads and a cheesy, pillowy calzone. Be sure to put your name in for call-ahead seating.
Where to Get Sushi + Asian Fare in Jackson
There are actually several Jackson, WY restaurants serving sushi. Two are worth special mention. Also included in this category are a few spots to indulge in good Asian fare, in case you need a break from elk burgers.
12. King Sushi
This tiny but mighty sushi bar is a perennial favorite among both locals and in-the-know visitors. Situated on a quiet block in a historic log cabin-turned-restaurant, King Sushi offers a big selection of fresh, inventive rolls that lean spicy, plus classic nigiri, cooked dishes, and drinks. Make your reservation well in advance for this best Jackson, WY sushi restaurant.
Unlike the elbow-to-elbow crowd at tiny King Sushi, Jackson Hole restaurant Kanpai is spacious and gracious. The restaurant gets consistently high marks for its selection of traditional Japanese cooked dishes, elegant but creative sushi, and fresh hand rolls. Kanpai also has seasonal rooftop dining and happy hour cocktails.
14. Teton Thai
Legit Thai right at the ski mountain, all-day restaurant Teton Thai serves lunch and dinner to hungry skiers who return again and again for soups, noodles and rice dishes, and classic curries. Teton Thai is walk-in only.
15. Teton Tiger
Not to be confused with Teton Thai, above, sister restaurant Teton Tiger (located in downtown Jackson) is an upscale-casual restaurant that’s super popular for its cocktail menu and pan-Asian cuisine that covers everything from tikka masala to Thai curry. Somehow, it all works.
The Best Bakeries, Breakfast, Snack + Coffee Shops in Jackson, Wyoming
Enjoy the sweet side of Jackson Hole’s dining scene, plus the best places for coffee and a quick bite.
Persephone Bakery isn’t just one of my favorite bakeries and cafés in Jackson. It’s one of my all-time favorite bakeries and cafés, period. This tiny Jackson, WY charmer serves the town’s best croissants, pastries, breads, and baked goods. Get there in the morning for the best selection, as they often sell out. Persephone Bakery also has a lovely breakfast and lunch menu, featuring French-leaning egg dishes like a wild mushroom omelet with Gruyère cream sauce (as good as it sounds), croque madame, quiche, salads, soups, and more.
Need a chill spot to sip some good coffee and catch up with a friend or read your book? Cowboy Coffee is the place. Cowboy Coffee has a prime location steps from Jackson Town Square and sells a large selection of whole bean and ground coffee, coffee beverages, plus smoothies, teas, sandwiches, and panini.
Jackson, WY may be getting more upscale. Nora’s Fish Creek Inn is most certainly not. This decidedly un-fancy spot in a converted log cabin is a true local favorite. Breakfast (served until 2 p.m. daily) is the move here, especially the huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, and pancakes.
